A Student application is judged on whether you are a genuine student taking a coherent next step. We check that your course, your academic history and your stated plans line up before the CAS is issued, because inconsistencies here are what trigger a credibility refusal later.
The financial requirement is unusually mechanical: a set amount, in a qualifying account, held for 28 consecutive days ending no more than 31 days before you apply. We work out the exact figure for your course and city and check the statements against the rule before anything is submitted.
We complete the online application with you, flag whether your subject needs ATAS clearance, prepare the document set for upload, and take you through the immigration health surcharge, biometrics and what to carry on arrival.
Course fees for the first year that are still unpaid, plus living costs at the published monthly rate for up to nine months — higher in London than elsewhere. The amount has to sit in a qualifying account for 28 consecutive days, and the closing balance must never dip below the required figure during that window.
Student route conditions normally allow limited part-time work during term and full-time in vacations, depending on your course level and sponsor. The exact permission is printed on your visa, and treating it as a way to fund the course rather than supplement it tends to weaken the application.
Dependants are only permitted for a narrow set of courses — principally postgraduate research programmes and government-sponsored study. We will tell you at the first review whether your course qualifies rather than after you have committed to it.
